Gould Campbell 2000

Vintage Port

Tight and concentrated, altogether a very serious wine. It's only a pity the quantity is so small.

Description

The vineyards from which this wine was produced, are situated principally in the Pinhao valley and the Covas area which is situated just to the West of Pinhão in the heart of the prime growing areas of the Douro district.

During the vintage it was apparent that very good quality fruit was being received, and attention was focussed entirely on quality. Due to the high proportion of skins to must at fermentation, high concentration was achieved, resulting in outstanding Vintage Port.

Gould Campbell 2000 Vintage Port is full-bodied with an excellent backbone of tannins balanced by massive ripe fruit flavours.

Our Expert's Recommendation

"This young wine should be allowed to age in its own bottle for at least 15 to 20 years from the time it is bottled to achieve its optimum maturity. For those who prefer to drink their Vintage Port young, 4 to 5 years are sufficient."
