Warre's 1991

Vintage Port

Excellent wine with a classic 'peppery' flavour.

Description

The first Warre vintage for 6 years. The difficult market conditions of the time did not deter Warre's from declaring this superb wine which is of outstanding quality. Very small quantity produced. Full bodied and beautifully aromatic. From the intensity of the colour during fermentation it was immediately apparent that some classic wines were being produced.

Our Expert's Recommendation

"This Vintage is beginning to show some of the wonderful characteristics of bottle matured wine. It can be drunk now but will repay a few more years in your cellar. This wine has a wonderfully inviting nose with marvellous fruit to match."

James Suckling , Wine Spectator

“That whiff of Seville oranges is there immediately. Fascinating, intriguing taste of marmalade and black and red fruit. Luscious yet structured. Hugely successful. Still a bit of fire on the finish but perfectly integrated"”
Serena Sutcliffe MW , A Century of Vintage Port, Volume 8 – Sotheby’s

“Warre’s dark-colored 1991 Vintage Port is a stylish, elegant…rich port with floral and berry scents, high tannin, noticeable structure…”
Robert Parker , The Wine Buyers Guide
01/01/1996

“This is feminine in style, with lovely berry and grapey aromas and flavours. The finish, however, is packed with fruit and tannins. it’s got grip”.
James Suckling , Wine Spectator
