Dow's 1985
Vintage Port

The 1985 Vintage is a great classic and the Symington family consider this one of their "stars".
Description
Follows closely Dow's characteristic style. Lots of spice and good ripe tannins, one of the better wines of this vintage.
Our Expert's Recommendation
"This Vintage is beginning to show some of the wonderful characteristics of bottle matured wine. It can be drunk now but will repay a few more years in your cellar. Just beginning to drink but will also merit further ageing."
Press Comments
A good choice for current consumption, the 1985 Dow's shows a touch of bricking to go along with developed aromas of cedar, clove and cinnamon. Cherry, plum, fennel and dried spice notes finish with a hint of toffee.
"Drinking beautifully now at early optimal maturity, this has at least another few years of development in front of it and many years of drinking pleasure after that. Now it is nicely developed, well integrated, juicy and ripe with a nice balance between its power, weight, and texture; it is succulent but still elegant. Delicious. Really excellent."
“The Symington family consider this one of their “stars”. Lovely classic bouquet, full of fruit and health. Great “grip” and Douro liquorice”.
"It was a good Vintage for the Symington Group, with Graham, Warre and Dow all proving magnificent."
"My favourite was the Dow - very youthful, but extremely exciting, promising just like great young Bordeaux many layers of complex flavour to come."
