Our Expert's Recommendation
"If you have odd bottles of this wine in your cellar, you may find that there can be a slight variation between each bottle depending largely on where they have been stored. This wine is unlikely to benefit from further ageing. A really fantastic glass of Port."
Press Comments
“Gorgeous, glorious and rich. Dark ruby in colour, with an amber edge. Full-bodied and wonderfully sweet, with intense aromas of raisin, raspberry and cherry and a long, long finish. Very rich and very fine.”
"The ´45 Dow’s was alive with delicate, ethereal flavors of apples, cinnamon, almonds and oak, all of which lingered with an exceptionally long finish that I can still taste even as I write these words."
"Excellent color, displaying a garnet meniscus gradating to a near-black center. Plummy aromas underscored by pronounced scents of maple syrup. Ripe and lush with perfectly meshed acids and tannins, this wonderwork is in remarkable shape, loaded with juicy fruit that refuses to die… was overwhelmed by the purity of the fruit and the staying power."
"The peacetime 1945 more than lived up to its mythical status, with its terrific concentration and scents of roses and eucalyptus."
"Massive…Deep ruby with a garnet hue, a raisin and licorice nose, full-bodied, with raisin and licorice flavors."
