Quarles Harris 2003

Vintage Port

The Quarles Harris 2003 Vintage is one of really excellent quality, and will age superbly.

Description

The 2003 Quarles Harris Vintage is a blend of wines from vineyards or ‘quintas in the Rio Torto valley, principally from Quinta de Cabanas. In some of these “quintas” the wine continues to be made by the time- honoured traditional method of foot treading in granite “lagares” which produces first class Port.

Each component of the blend was held in wooden vats for 18 months after which it was racked and blended. Bottled in the spring of 2005, the wines have had no filtration or fining whatsoever.

Our Expert's Recommendation

"This young wine should be allowed to age in its own bottle for at least 15 to 20 years from the time it is bottled to achieve its optimum maturity. For those who prefer to drink their Vintage Port young, 4 to 5 years are sufficient."

Press Comments

"A dry, power-packed Port from one of the Symington-owned brands. The wine is dense, structured, and full of big, firm fruit flavours."

“Very intense aromas of blackberries, light coffee and minerals. Full-bodied, with a thick and powerful palate, chewy tannins and a medium finish. Very good indeed”.
