Quarles Harris 2000

Vintage Port

A wine of oustanding quality, with fantastic structure and colour.

Description

The Quarles Harris 2000 Vintage was drawn from selected vineyards in the Rio Torto and Pinhão Valleys of the Alto Douro, where the company has been making and buying wines from farmers for centuries.

As the Vintage was very small, it allowed for great care to be taken throughout all of the winemaking process. This combined with the near perfect quality of the grapes, low yields and ideal weather during picking resulted in a classic Vintage Port.

Our Expert's Recommendation

"This young wine should be allowed to age in its own bottle for at least 15 to 20 years from the time it is bottled to achieve its optimum maturity. For those who prefer to drink their Vintage Port young, 4 to 5 years are sufficient."

Press Comments

"Loads of currants, with hints of dried flowers in this young Vintage port. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with fine tannins and a lovely fruity finish. Serious effort here."

An elegant, dense purple-colored offering, this 2000 offers up sweet aromas of melted licorice intermixed with blackberries, black raspberries, and cassis. Soft, precocious, and pure, this medium-bodied, suave, graceful port should be approachable in 4-5 years and last until 2020.
