1934 Vintage Port

An outstanding Vintage, with powerful and well-structured wines. Declared by some of the major Port Houses.

Drinking Status

Superb now, but well cellared, the best wines will last for decades.

Tasting Notes

Still showing their structure, these wines still have plenty of flavour although some are beginning to fade a little.

Climatic Conditions

A hot, dry summer. The grapes ripened well but then there was rain again in September. Excellent 'vintaging' weather followed with the exception of one day of rain.

Vinification

The grapes were well coloured and looked very nice, although a little small. The quantity was satisfactory and the quality was a definite success

Winemaker's Comments

"The vintage started on the 24th September. Except for one day of rain its been perfect vintage weather and fairly warm most days. The grapes have all come in looking fresh and very healthy. It should prove good wine and there was an absolute absence of disease of any sort or kind"

"Visited all three Quintas. Not surprised to find the 1934's very good"
