Question by: Carolyn, Austin, USA

Q:

Curious of the value of a 1977 Port SWC - Vintage Porto.

A:

Hi Carolyn, We think that wine must be a Smith Woodhouse & Ca. Vintage Port.  1977 was a widely declared year, characterised by big, complex and long-lived wines, and the 1977 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port is a perfect example of a 1977 that is drinking well and still has a long life ahead, if well-cellared

Symington Family Estates are not active in the secondary market for Port wines, so we are unable to advise you on the value of your bottle. Your best bet would be to contact a specialist wine merchant in your area, or one of the auction houses that regularly handle fine old wines, such as Bonham's, Christie's or Sotheby's for further advice.
