Q:

I found a full bottle of Robertson's, Black Label, Ruby, Light Porto, Oporto, Portugal.  Can you tell me about it and its value?  I'm guessing the age is 30-50 years old.

A:

Hi Michael, Ruby port is a young, fresh and fruity style of port that is intended for drinking soon after release - it is not a wine that is meant to be aged.  If the bottle has been kept in a cool dark cellar all these years, there is a chance it may still be interesting to drink.  Generally speaking only Vintage Ports are sought in the secondary market for fine wines, but Symington Family Estates are not active in this market, so you may wish to consult a specialist wine merchant in your area, or one of the auction houses that specialise in fine wines such as Bonham's, Christies, or Sotheby's.
