1977 Vintage Port

Question by: Deborah, Cambridge, UK

I have a bottle of Fonseca's finest 1977 Vintage Port, bottled in Oporto, bought from Harrods, does it have a value or will I just drink it?

Hi Deborah, We recommend you gather friends and family around and enjoy your bottle of Vintage of Port!  1977 was a great year for Vintage Port, producing generally concentrated, long-lived and complex wines.  At 35 years of age Vintage Port, if it has been well-cellared, will be drinking splendidly, with complex aromas and flavours of dried fruits, honey, marzipan, possibly even tea or cigar box - read Charles Symington's assessment of how Vintage Port matures in bottle to learn more.  Enjoy!
