Buying Vintage Port in Chicago

September 20, 2012
Question by: Michael, Chicago, USA

Q:

I am new to Chicago and looking for a way to begin adding to my Vintage Port collection, what is the best course of action for selecting Vintage crates?  Any suggestions?

A:

Hi Michael, When building a cellar you need the advice of a good wine merchant who understands your taste preferences, budget, and strategy for building your collection.  In Chicago we can suggest a number of retailers who carry Vintage Port and whose experts can advise you.  All these retailers carry old and new vintages and will be able to help with special orders if need be.  Our recommended retailers in the Chicago area include:

Binny’s Beverage Depot
Wine Discount Center
House of Glunz
Un Cork It
Howard’s Wine Cellar

And of course, don't forget to consult The Vintage Port Site Knowledge Base for Harvest Reports and tasting notes for all our Vintages since 1945.  The Knowledge Base is easily accessible on your mobile device, for quick reference any time, any where, and no need to download an application - just go to the usual VPS home address, and the site will re-direct to the mobile version, or click the "Mobile Website" button on the top of the left menu bar.  You may also want to take a look at our advice about Purchasing Vintage Port, and of course Storing Your Port
