Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha 1988

Question by: Philomena, Derbyshire, GB

Q:

I have a bottle of Warres 1988 Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port.  Can you advise me how to sell it and what it may be worth.

A:

Hi Philomena, 1988 was a difficult year in the vineyards, saved by excellent weather during the harvest period.  Only a few Quinta Vintage Ports were made, and the wines are well suited for early consumption rather than long term ageing, in fact your Quinta da Cavadinha 1988 should be lovely just about now - we hope you will consider enjoying it with family and friends.  Generally only the Vintage Ports from top years are sought in the secondary market, however we suggest you contact a specialist wine merchant or one of the auction houses that routinely handles fine wines, such as Bonham's, Christie's or Sotheby's for specific advice.  Be aware that any buyer or broker will want to know that the bottles have been well-cellared since purchase.
