Warre's 2007

Release Notes

Inky and concentrated, with opaque colour given by the famous old vines of Retiro Antigo. This concentration combines perfectly with the freshness imparted by the wines from the higher lying Cavadinha vineyards to produce lovely fresh flavours of blackberry fruit. A wine of enormous elegance, combining vibrant lifted fruit with power and long lasting flavours. The wine was much enhanced by the exuberance of the Telhada Touriga Franca grapes.

Alcohol by volume v/v (20º C): 20%
Total Acidity g/l tartaric acid: 4,50

Tasting Notes

I love the nose on this, with blackberry, black licorice, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, medium sweet and very, very dense. What seductive mouth feel, with polished, round tannins that caress the palate. This may be better than the fantastic 1994.

Score: 95-98/100

The first Warre's vintage to be made entirely from its own vineyards. Fine, fragrant, great aromatic purity yet restrained. Rich, full style, even fleshy. Not as big as some but fine and expressive. Lovely grip, with elegance and poise.

Score: 18.5/20
