Dow's Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira 2006

Release Notes

Inky purple-black colour with a deep garnet rim. Lovely fragrant nose of blackberry, rockrose, and clove. Full and generous palate with flavours of concentrated blackcurrant fruit and bitter chocolate, liquorice and spice, coated in ripe peppery tannins. One of the finest Ribeira wines that we have produced, it is sensational now, but will age very well indeed.

Alcohol by volume v/v (20º C): 20%
Total Acidity g/l tartaric acid: 4,30
Baumé: 3,6

Tasting Notes

Deep, opaque; lovely, rich, dark-chocolate aromas, open and opulent, floral (Touriga Nacional), with minty ripeness; initially this seems very rich and sweet for Dow (a characteristic of the vintage perhaps), fleshy and opulent, with a big tannic backbone and bittersweet dark-chocolate length and concentration.  Another very impressive wine for the medium to long term; 2020-35.

Score: 18/20

Fresh violets, and spicy and exhuberant fruit on the nose. Peppery on the palate with an interesting finish and good length.

Score: Gold Medal
