Quinta de Roriz 2000

Release Notes

Opaque purple colour. On the nose great complexity, ripe black fruits with a mineral hint. On the palate huge concentration and tannic structure, with the Sousão component of the blend producing fine acidity.

This is really fantastic. Wonderful aromas of grapes, berries and cherries. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with wonderfully refined tannins and a long, long finish. Even better in bottle. A gorgeous wine. Best after 2014.

A bouquet of melted asphalt, black currants, prunes, and blackberries emerges from this dense ruby/purple-coloured offering. Made in a superficial style, it offers black fruit, medium body, moderate sweetness, and an abrupt finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. 3rd place out of 37 wines tasted.

This Quinta is owned by the van Zeller family. Its fruit is vinified and marketed by the Symington. It's a hugely ripe wine that also has a fine tannic, almost minerally character, which leaves a great structure. Expect this wine to age long and well

Tar and pepper on the nose; rich and dense with ripe, fleshy fruit backed by ripe tannins. Mid-to-heavy weight. Complete. Highly recommended.

Score: 4 Stars
