Graham's Quinta dos Malvedos 1995

Release Notes

126 pipes bottled.  The 1995 Malvedos is showing great balance and style.  The wine is immensely attractive on the nose, a result of the very high percentage of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa (9% and 36% respectively).  The colour is dark and intense with a deep purple rim.  The structure of the wine is harmonious with an excellent tannin structure.  This wine will mature superbly and will evolve into a classic Vintage Port.

A rich and dark wine with an intense red rim still clear in the glass. An excellent nose of ripe berry fruit with floral tones. Great balance and style on the palate with strong and peppery tannins balancing the rich fruit. Rounded and harmonious with a long after-taste.

A wonderful lifted warm nose of pure cassis fruit and figs and prunes. Coffee, toffee oak is a good support for the vibrant fruit and firm tannins take it through.

‘Graham’s Malvedos is always excellent, and the 1995 is no exception to the rule. It is a powerful and rich Port, with spicy aromas on the nose and sweet mouthfilling fruit on the palate. There is plenty of tannin, but it is not intrusive. Overall, this is a well-balanced Port with a lingering finish.

Score: Gold Medal
