The wine has a lifted, fragrant nose with overtones of eucalyptus. The colour is a deep opaque purple. On the palate, fresh berry fruit and the classic Bomfim finish of almonds. As always the Dow's style is drier than most comparable Vintage Ports.
Alcohol by volume v/v (20º C): 20%
Total Acidity g/l tartaric acid: 4,80
Baumé: 3,0
Very dark red colour. On the nose excellent red fruit aromas, and with floral characteristics such as violets. On the palate showing a fine robust structure, with silky tannins and a long and peppery finish.
Still in its youth, this intense, almost black Port is really one for the gods. It is silky smooth with violets, prunes figs and raisins. Its smoky weight and spicy, floral fruit are embedded in the elegant velvet finish. Score: Gold Medal
