Deep red garnet colour with ruby highlights. Intense and lovely nose, packed with ripe red fruits, mint, and spicy notes.  A medium-bodied wine with a more austere palate showing ripe red fruit underpinned by firm tannins, leading to a long dry finish.

Total acidity: 3.90 g/l tartaric acid
Baumé: 3.0

Fragrant, lean but flavoury.

Score: 3 Stars predict 4 after further ageing

James Suckling critic

1990 tasting note year

Very impressive for its brute strength.  Very deep, dark ruby, with a concentrated cassis nose, full-bodied, rich, powerful and overflowing with fruit flavours and hard tannins.

Score: 92/100

1985 tasting note year

Showing well at the initial blind tasting in May 1985: rich, fat, attractive. Sweet, agreeble shortly after.  Though impressively deep, intense and still youthful looking at Christie's, I found a stalkiness on nose and palate.

Score: 3 Stars predict 4 after further ageing
