Warre's Quinta da Cavadinha 1979

Tasting Notes

Richard Mayson critic

World of Fine Wine (magazine) source
2012 tasting note year

Brick-red core, broad amber rim; fine, perfumed, nicely evolved floral, esteva (gum cistus) aromas, open but possibly with a bit more to give; soft, sweet, and fully mature, with beautifully balanced cherry fruit.  For me, the best of the '79 trio:  a wine to be enjoyed now and over the next decade.

Score: 15.5/20

James Suckling critic

Vintage Port (book, Suckling, 1990) source
1990 tasting note year

Sweet, velvety and elegant. Medium ruby with a red hue, fresh aromas of currants and cherries, medium-bodied, with very sweet fruit flavours, medium tannins and a light finish. A little simple, but delicious.
