Tasting Notes

Amazing color. Dark ruby center, with just a hint of garnet. This is very impressive on the nose. Crushed raspberry, coffee, licorice and chocolate. Complex. What a palate. Big, rich and powerful, yet balanced and pleasing. Full, medium-sweet and caressing. Silky. Drink it for the rest of your life. Underrated around the world.

Score: 97/100

GOULD CAMPBELL ...as near perfection as the most fastidious Port drinker will ever find.

Score: 4 Stars

Michael Broadbent MW critic

1979 tasting note year

Enormously impressive in two tastings in November 1979 and certainly one of my favourite '77s:  very deep, red-black centre, purple rim.  Despite appearance, a sweet, easy, attractive wine on nose and palate.

Score: 4 Stars
