Tasting Notes

Good mid-deep, youthful hue, thin browning rim; touch of coffee, torrefaction on the nose; firm, tight-knit and focused, fine and linear, bitter-sweet mid-palate, quite dry in style, almost austere, without much flesh on the bones, but in this case the bones are very elegant. Despite the lack of fruit this will make old bones!

The colour has matured excellently, evolving into a deep garnet. Lovely scented aromas of mature fruit combined with an elegant floral complexity. On the palate very well balanced, a fine tannic backbone, and a luscious and sweet gummy finish.

Another very good deep colour, garnet centre, with a pink/tawny rim. Again quite withdrawn. Needs time to open and I suspect that this wine has more to give. Another very rich, ripe, youthful wine with fabulous morello-cherry fruit and bitter chocolate power and concentration. Rich tannic backbone with a finish that combines power and elegance in equal measure.

Some spirit on the nose. Rich toffee taste. Pure caramel and toffee on the palate.

My notes range from medium-sweet to very sweet but, as so often, one's perception depends on the context in which he wine is tasted and drunk. Let's settle for sweet, full-bodied, rich, almost too rich, yet not overpowering, with the perfect weight and balance I expect from Warre at its best. Now - 2020

Well over two dozen [notes], all complimentary. By 1990, pristine purple easing a little, and starting to mature. Lovely fruit, fragrance and vinosity.

Wonderful fruit on the palate, but slightly one-dimensional.  Medium deep red, with earthy cassis and tomato aromas, and a long sweet finish.  Quite delicte.
