Tasting Notes

James Suckling critic

1990 tasting note year

A blockbuster, much better than the 1967 Cockburn.  Excellent youthful ruby-red, with rich, ripe cherry aromas, full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins forming a solid backbone for the mass of fleshy fruit flavours.  Will improve with more age.

Score: 93/100

Michael Broadbent MW critic

Vintage Wine (book, Broadbent, 2002) source
1987 tasting note year

Altogether a better colour, sweetness and weight than Cockburn. A curious, fragrant, spicy, pine-fresh bouquet. Complex yet balanced. Opened up nicely.

Score: 3 Stars
