Viticultural and Weather Conditions

The vines were backward, but the spring was favourable on the whole.  Unfortunately conditions degenerated and Andrew James Symington summed up the situation, "Alternating hot and cold weather throughout the summer followed by mildew soon dispelled all hopes of fine wine generally."

Winemaker's Overview

Vintage began at all three Quintas on September 29 and generally on Oct 6.  One rainy day stopped the gathering but the weather was favourable for the rest of the Vintage.
