Viticultural and Weather Conditions

A dry summer caused some burning of grapes, but rain at the end of September improved the quality.  Harvest began 1st October in good weather.

Winemaker's Overview

Weather all that could be desired - dry and even temperature.  Doubtless some of the wines will turn out very good.

Very pleased with the wines - plenty of colour and flavour. The Bomfim and Zimbro are very fine.

25/26 November 1916

The 1916s have developed colour and flavour, even more so than they promised in November. The "Quinta Nova" produce is kept apart. It has a style of its own but is very fine.
