Tasting Notes

Michael Broadbent MW critic

Vintage Wine (book, Broadbent, 2002) source
2002 tasting note year

Palish, 'warm', light yellow rim; sweet, fragrant, touch of caramel, fig; drying out a little, lean and spirity but delicious old flavour and good length.

Score: 4 Stars

James Suckling critic

Vintage Port (book, Suckling, 1990) source
1989 tasting note year

I have only tasted this wine once, but according to James Symington, whose family owns Warre, the bottle I tried was not a good example.  It thought it was more like an old Madeira, slightly oxidised and tired.  Garnet with a green edge, slightly nutty aromas with hints of orange peel, very light-bodied, with sweet, nutty fruit flavours and a very light finish.
