That is definetely my favourite Vintage Port too! Had it once at a trade fair and got immediately hooked. Everything sems to be in perfect balance - tannins, acidity, fruit and alcohol. It gets my vote for the "perfect" Port.

Any of you guys ever had the Graham 1970 - now that is what I call the perfect Port - 38 years old and still going strong - drinking well but you can still leave it in your cellar if you want.

I never had the 1970. Had the 1977 on a few occasions and like it, but the dried, ripe fruit flavours (especially figs) are very evident at this stage. Contrary to many peoples' opinions, I prefer drinking Vintage Port when still young and feel that fruit explosion on the nose and palate. Some time ago I opened a bottle of a 2000 Vintage Port (I believe it was the Vesuvio) and it was simply delicious!
